The “get rid of drawings” premise is unfounded, a premise backed by no reality. The absence of foundation is due not only to the pragmatics of professional practice; it’s even worse than that. The lack of foundation is fundamental. The idea that we should operate within visual spatial modeled (or even real) environments, without the […]
Sentient beings deploy methods of articulate expression of attentive focus within spatial visual environments, in order to effectively understand and make use of either the real world, or digital environments modeled by any means. In technical domains like design and construction [— unlike in ordinary domains like, anything, I don’t know… like waking up from […]
I wake up early this morning and see again more amazing posts (on LinkedIn) about Mid Journey V4. As that moves more and more into the design of architecture and engineering models, AFR/TGN rigs — and rig placement could even be automated by mid journey or anyone’s TGN implementation — would be a very logical […]
What we do when we say we understand (something), what we do, to understand, what generates understanding, what the basic observable dynamic of thought itself, is, what we mean when we say we understand, and what we’ve done to get there, I talk about here: And here my proposal for AFR/TGN development in all digital […]
This post is a continuation of my ongoing call to software developers (open source and commercial), and users of software. If you want to skip past the background discussion, scroll down to the heading “200 word blurb” and continue from there. PROBLEM Introduction In our industry, architecture, engineering, and construction, I’ve heard people debating “models […]
Get your claws into your models. Develop TGN rigs in your software. A TGN advertisement: A TGN demo: My conference talk on TGN starting at the narrated demo (12:02): Un-narrated demo: The text of my talk at BIM Coordinators Summit 2022 Dublin: Perfect Match TGN and [your favorite modeling platform] are a perfect match. [Your […]
Someone said, years ago, yeah I remember, that I have “a worm’s eye view” of things in AEC tech, because of my interest in the function and purpose of technical drawing — the articulate expression of clarifying and affirmative attentive focus within visual spatial models of all kinds (mental, physical, digital) — and the compelling necessity for […]
Doing the work myself for years building models, and construction drawings driven from the models, gave me the insight that this fusion is essential; it’s happening anyway in your mind even if software doesn’t assist you with it. Since 2016 I’ve spent a lot of effort imagining how this evolves next and I believe I’m right again, like I was the first time with “hypermodel”. But “right again” does nothing unless a software company gives my ideas a chance again, like last time. This time, the fusion is designed to be MORE effective, MORE communicative, more expressive, more engaging, more interactive, more compelling (likely addictive) and easier to use for users, and far more useful, a much stronger assist to thought and understanding of very complex situations in very complex models. The other improvement this time around, in Fusion Version 2 (TGN) is that this time the industry can avoid relegating interpretive focus technique to siloes within single apps. The rigs can be developed to be portable, shareable across platform boundaries..
Is everyone exasperated by BIM, or finally indifferent, even people who evangelize it? BIM has become perceived as reserved for a minority of experts with little practical benefit against the cost of implementation. Just today, an architect I spoke to openly admitted: “BIM is the most boring bit of project delivery to me.” It is […]
